When is an Isolator, Separator or Repeater Essential?

While reliable, RS232 communication is open to problems in industrial environments. Our devices are critical when:

  • Your system uses different power sources: If your PC and a field device are powered separately, potential differences can arise between them. A galvanic separator breaks this electrical connection, protecting both devices from damage.

  • High electromagnetic interference (EMI) is present: Operating near machinery that generates electrical noise can lead to transmission errors. An RS232 isolator significantly improves signal quality and communication reliability.

  • You need to regenerate and boost the signal: Acting as a repeater or signal booster, our device actively reshapes the RS232 signal, ensuring correct voltage levels and integrity for error-free communication at speeds up to 115200 bps.

  • R03 Model (Full 3-Way Isolation): Provides 3kV DC isolation between both RS232 ports, and between the ports and the power supply. This is the no-compromise solution for the most critical systems.

  • R04 Model (Single-Side Isolation): Offers 3kV DC isolation on one of the RS232 ports. This is an excellent, more cost-effective choice when you need to secure one specific side of the connection—for example, the COM port on an expensive industrial PC.
